Freedom and Autonomy : ウィキペディア英語版 | Freedom and Autonomy Freedom and Autonomy (''Libertà e Autonomia'') was a regionalist social-democratic and centrist Italian electoral list active in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It was formed for the 2003 regional election by disgruntled members of Forza Italia, mainly social-democrats, who are a strong faction within that party in the Region. They could not agree with the decision of the national party not to candidate Renzo Tondo, the incumbent President of the Region, for that post again and to candidate instead Alessandra Guerra, member of Lega Nord Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The leader of the group, Ferruccio Saro, was candidate for President and won 2.8% of the vote. Since then Saro continued to be member of Forza Italia (he was at the time member of the Chamber of Deputies), but was elected to the Senate in the 2006 general election for the Movement for Autonomy, although in the list of Forza Italia in Liguria. In the 2008 regional election Tondo, who never left the party, was elected President of the Region, while Saro was elected senator in the 2008 general election.
